London duo Echo Lake invite a lot of comparisons. Their brand of shoegaze certainly owes a debt to pioneers My Bloody Valentine, but they also have more than a little bit in common with contemporaries such as The Raveonettes, the xx and Chromatics.
The latter most jumped out to me as I listened to Echo Lake’s full length debut Wild Peace. Thom Hill and Linda Jarvis’ languid melodies and shimmering production are on par with Chromatics’ album of the year contender Kill For Love.
