Minnesota’s resident synthpop auteur John Maus has a collection of rarities and previously unreleased material coming out next month entitled oddly enough A Collection of Rarities and Previously Unreleased Material. The sixteen songs, dating back to 2003, were all remixed and remastered by Maus — eleven of which are being officially released for the first time.

2007’s “Bennington” is Maus at his cheekiest with its tremeloed synth and the tortured stalker lyric “I love those fucking eyes”:

We posted “No Title (Molly)” a few months back, but missed “Mental Breakdown” last month. The 2004 track is a moodier affair with swirling guitar and oceans of reverb:
