radiohead dallas: live debuts of 'skirting on the surface' & 'the amazing sounds of orgy'

(via dc9atnight)

There was a playoff atmosphere at the American Airlines Center in Dallas last night. The Stars had the night off and the Mavericks were up the road a piece in OKC, but modern-day legends Radiohead had an eager capacity crowd in equal parts rapt attention and unbridled frenzy.

As expected, the setlist was heavy on King Of Limbs (“Codex” was the only omission) and newer material. Both of the new Basement Session tracks, “Staircase” and “The Daily Mail,” made the cut — as well as brand new song “Identikit,” which has shown up every night so far on this tour.

The surprises last night were “Pyramid Song” b-side “The Amazing Sounds Of Orgy” and onetime Atoms For Peace tune “Skirting The Surface.” Check them out below:

Thom and the guys rewarded the crowd for such indulgences with plenty of classics. Kid A was represented with “Idioteque” and “Everything In Its Right Place,” and a killer performance of OK Computer deep cut “Climbing Up The Walls” gave me chills.

However, the following trio of tracks are collectively the highlight of the night. “Karma Police,” “There There” and final encore “Paranoid Android” encapsulate the raw energy and hypnotic crowd-controlling power of Radiohead:

Thanks for posting this stuff. I had to miss the concert last night and was really bummed about it.
