download 'single blip' from vince clarke & martin gore

A couple of months ago, we got the first look at the new collaboration between reconciled former Depeche Mode bandmates Vince Clarke and Martin Gore, VCMG. “Spock” was promising, if a bit one-note, but new track “Single Blip” has much more to get excited about.

In press-release speak, “Single Blip” is:

“A pounding motorik beat heralds the start of this minimal electronic tour de force. With primal drums and puckering bleeps, it’s an industrial battle cry of the darkest proportions, setting teeth on edge with nails-across-blackboard screeching, ominous synths and spiraling rhythms.”

Upon listening, it’s got that same industrial beat as “Spock” throughout the buildup, but those ominous synths signal a change around the 2:20 mark and the track takes off:

The “Single Blip” EP featuring remixes from Byetone and Mathew Jonson will be released February 27th on Mute, with the full-length Ssss due March 13th.
