catching up with: peaking lights


Wisconsin couple Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis make music together under the name Peaking Lights. They released sophomore album 936 earlier this year on Weird World, which has gained some recent notoriety by showing up on some respected year-end lists.

My list was already in the can, but the dub influenced psychedelia of Peaking Lights is certainly some of the most intriguing stuff I’ve heard all year. “All The Sun That Shines” is a terrific primer, with its thin drum machine, blown out low-end and layers of synths:

“Amazing And Wonderful” is an even more hypnotic journey down the rabbit hole:

“Hey Sparrow” has a bit more in common with the bedroom pop of Beach House — but the video is still trippy as hell:
