vote: the smiths best song bracket — quarterfinals

Thanks to all of you who have voted and taken an interest in The Smiths best songs bracket. Round 1 and Round 2 produced a few surprises, but we’re down to eight powerhouses for the quarterfinals.

The biggest surprises — at least according to my flawed seeding system — were #21 “That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore” over #5 “Meat Is Murder,” and #22 “What Difference Does It Make?” over #6 “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now.” As for the close call of round 2, #3 “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want” edged #19 “William It Was Really Nothing” by a mere 52% of the vote.

So here’s what the journey to the elite eight looks like:

Previewing the quarters, how’s this for a battle of dark horses and a Meat Is Murder grudge match:

#29 “Headmaster Ritual” vs…

#21 “That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore”

VOTE NOW! Sorry for shouting.
