One of electronic music’s pioneering duos has plotted a return in 2012. Orbital, which hasn’t released an album since 2004’s Blue Album, will embark on a UK tour in April with a new album to follow.

Orbital’s Paul and Phil Hartnoll reunited in 2009, but the recording of new material has been a slow process. As Paul told consequenceofsound:

“The biggest influence on this album has been two years of playing live, listening to old Orbital music. We wanted to make music that we would like to play live. It had to flow and ebb like a live set.”

The freshest look at what they’ve been up to is “Never,” which does build in the way he describes. Download the track below, and watch the video of a nighttime drive around the M25 motorway — otherwise known as the London Orbital — which led the way to countless raves in the late 80’s:
