the blessed isles 'caroline' video & ep

 

The Blessed Isles are a Milwaukee by way of Dallas dream pop act whose debut EP, Caroline, was just released. Full disclosure, I know and like these guys ā€” but I think you will, too.

Their influences are obvious with washes of shoegaze guitar that echo Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine. However, there’s also a contemporary pop sensibility that could classify them with the likes of M83 and The Radio Dept.

The EP’s title track has a tremendously hooky chorus, and a video that provides an appropriate mix of artfully shot footage and detached cool:

The EP’s other highlight is “Give,” which has a Lush-style guitar intro and a bridge featuring the underutilized electronic hand clap:
