the smiths 'complete' remastered by marr

This week in the UK, Complete was released — a collection of all 8 albums from The Smiths, recently remastered from the original tapes by Johnny Marr himself.

The 8 albums are of course the 4 studio albums, plus live album Rank, and the b-side/rarities collections Louder Than Bombs, Hatful of Hollow and The World Won’t Listen.

In the US, we’ll have to wait until October 18th.. then you’ll have a choice to make. You could go the simple route and buy the mp3s, but what’s the fun in that? Otherwise, you can get the CD box set for $54, the vinyl box set for $200, or spring for the deluxe box set for $360 — which includes both CDs and vinyl, plus 25 vinyl 7″ singles, DVD with music videos, 8″ x 12″ original cover-art prints, 36″ x 24″ collectible poster and 8 page booklet with expanded liner notes. Dang.

Here’s the iTunes trailer to get you all excited:

Among the rarities you’ll find is a remastered version of “The Draize Train,” an instrumental that really lets Marr get his groove on. This is just a sad vinyl rip:

And if all this isn’t enough for you, there are plenty more Smiths rarities out there if you know where to look. Wink wink, nudge nudge. And if you’re like me, there’s no such thing as too much Smiths.
