The frontman of Madchester’s motley fools, The Happy Mondays, releases his autobiography today in the UK (US release is October 17th).

Shaun Ryder’s Twisting My Melon shares his tales of heroin addiction and the Mondays’ rise to fame with 1990’s Pills, Thrills And Bellyaches. Oh, and there’s the bit about finishing second in the UK version of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

I always loved Ryder’s lazy delivery and “don’t give a fuck” attitude. Yes, the Mondays flamed out in a drug addled haze — as depicted in 24 Hour Party People — but when they were on, they were the party.
