battles premiere slightly nsfw video 'ice cream'

Much has changed since Battles blew peoples’ minds with Mirrored back in 2007. Vocalist Tyondai Braxton split last summer to pursue a solo career, leaving the remaining trio to totally re-work what was nearly a finished album.

Finally, they are set to return with that long awaited second album, Gloss Drop, on June 7. It’s largely instrumental, with several guest vocalists contributing, such as the legendary Gary Numan, Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead and Matias Aguayo.

The latter is the voice of the album’s first single, “Ice Cream.”  The Chilean DJ adds just the right energy to the Battles’ verging-on-chaotic math rock:

Now try to make sense of that. Battles have a number of European festival dates ahead, and just a smattering of US dates this summer.
